Pendulum - Immersion
This album has a great dancy vibe and brilliant songs.
Track 1 - Genesis 8/10
One of those 1 minute long songs - it is good but obviously not great as an actual song because it is over really quickly. However, the album does flow well when it is played completely in order, and this is an excellent run up to Track 2 (Salt in the Wounds).
Track 2 - Salt In The Wounds 7/10
It is a good dance anthem, but I feel that it would be better with lyrics. It has no voice at all (for all 6 minutes 40 seconds of it) which is a downside because there is nothing to sing along to. The musical side is good but it is very long.
Track 3 - Watercolour 9/10
Love this song! It has a great build up throughout and a great vocal as well. One of my permanent favourites from when I first got this album.
Track 4 - Set Me On Fire 6/10
Not a big fan of the vocals in this one: the music is generally tolerable but there is room for improvement.
Track 5 - Crush 10/10
One of my favourite Pendulum songs ever! Love this song, it has a great musical story and the vocals are fab. Can listen to this for hours on end I think (never tried that though haha).
Track 6 - Under The Waves 6/10
Haven't listened to this song that much because I don't think that it is particularly worth listening to. It isn't one of their best, but it does have some good parts.
Track 7 - Immunize 8/10
Again, another song that I haven't really listened to much. I like the vocals, and the music has a strong riff and rhythm. As Pendulum songs go, this is one of their better ones.
Track 8 - The Island Part I (Dawn) 9/10
Love this song, it has a great build up, especially into Part II. One of the first songs that I liked from this album, so it has some nostalgia carried with it and does remind me of long car journeys with the family.
Track 9 - The Island Part II (Dusk) 6/10
Such a let down compared to Part I. My sister prefers this one, but personally Part I was excellent by itself and this just carried it on too long and took the song down a dark turn.
Track 10 - Comprachios 7/10
This song is okay; not the best of Pendulum, but a good track. I like the bit from 'Throw it away....' because the melody works really well.
Track 11 - The Vulture 8/10
A great song to dance around crazily to! My sister and I tend to leap around the music room fairly manically when this comes on. Not great otherwise, but a good anthem nonetheless.
Track 12 - Witchcraft 10/10
A beautiful, BEAUTIFUL song. Love it a lot. One of my all time faves by Pendy. Really great vocals, music, build up, middle eight - everything!
Track 13 - Self Vs Self 9/10
One of your more rocky tracks. Really great introduction, can't believe that I haven't listened to it more! I think I'll be adding that to the 'Supreme Favourites' playlist on my iPod! The screamo isn't for the faint hearted, but if you are a fan of that sort of music then this is the perfect song for you.
Track 14 - The Fountain 10/10
I love how this song is featuring Steven Wilson, because I knew about him from Blackfield and Porcupine Tree (two of his bands) and when I finally pieced two and two together it made me fangirl tremendously! Therefore it has great vocals and is generally a brilliant song.
Track 15 - Encoder 10/10
This song is 5 minutes 20 seconds long, but it is worth every second. Love it. It has an amazing build up, middle, end - the whole thing! Lots of great lyrics to sing along to as well.
Whole album;
Love this album, it is really one of those all time favourites that I will listen to for years to come. Really excited because Pendulum are meant to be releasing a new album soon - so fingers crossed!
