The Script - Science & Faith

Track 1 - You Won't Feel A Thing 9/10
When I first heard this song, I knew that this album was going to be good. It is the perfect introduction song - not too good for the rest of the album, but definitely promises a lot. It is a classic intro track and is brilliantly written.

Track 2 - For The First Time 7/10
This song is okay. It is a good song, but the rest of the album is better in my opinion. Also, I think it is very overplayed, when a lot of their songs are much better. It is a good song, however, and the lyrics are very emotive, but it has a very unnecessary use of the 's' word which I find a bit offensive because it does not suit the genre at all.

Track 3 - Nothing 8/10
This song is quite slowly paced, which isn't usually my style, but I love this song for what it is. I can play the singing part on the flute, so I have some sort of connection to it, and it is great to sing when you are feeling sad.

Track 4 - Science & Faith 10/10
This song is such genius! It is beautiful - the lyrics, melodies, composition - everything about it is just fantastic. As soon as I heard this song, it sung to me (pardon the pun) and I have loved it ever since. Such a brilliant song to listen to, and it has never got dull - even though this album was released in 2010!

Track 5 - If You Ever Come Back 10/10
Really love this song as well. It works really well and flows nicely, as well as having great lyrics. It also showcases Danny's singing talent, which I think is overlooked in some of the other songs. As well as this, the chorus is so sweet it makes the whole song worthwhile.

Track 6 - Long Gone And Moved On 8/10
This song is good, but mainly as a filler. Again, it has an irritating use of a swear word, which is one of those unfortunate things about The Script - their musical genre does not suit swearing at all, and it comes across as a bit silly. The song is melodic and is worth listening to, but it is a bit forgettable.

Track 7 - Dead Man Walking 8/10
This is another song that really shows off Danny's singing voice. He has a lot of talent which is rarely shown in the other songs. It is quite a good song, but it isn't as good as some of the others, hence the 8/10.

Track 8 - This = Love 8/10
This song is very emotive. The lyrics are quite sad and thought provoking, and, unfortunately, it does get swept along with the rest of the album, causing it to become a bit forgettable. Worth listening to, but not one that I'd particularly remember - except for the rapping bit, which is brilliant.

Track 9 - Walk Away 6/10
I don't like this song much. It doesn't flow well for me, and I can quite easily just press the skip button. It also doesn't seem to do much throughout, even though the basic melodies are good.

Track 10 - Exit Wounds 10/10
This song is brilliant and really picks the end of the album back up. The lyrics are amazing - really emotional and meaningful. It also has a great melody and is memorable, which is important for a genre like theirs when all the songs sound quite similar.

Whole Album
This album is not my usual genre, and neither are The Script anymore, but it was a few years ago so I will always hold it in my heart. I picked it because I love the album generally, and I wanted to post about something slightly different, and I really think that this is the best of The Script's albums and want to stress that. I haven't heard their 4th one yet, and, I've got to be honest, I have been put off by their 3rd album so it is highly unlikely that I will buy it. It is a shame, because this album is so brilliant and they seem to have lost their passion for good music along the way (that sounds much more harsh than I intended - but they seem to have realised how famous and popular they are, and are enjoying that more than making music; it happens to a lot of artists). I do love this album a lot and felt that it deserved some recognition for its brilliance.

Tonight Alive - The Other Side

Track 1 - The Ocean 10/10
Love this song, it is fantastic! Great song to open the album with, and has a great tone and the lyrics are good. Really starts the album off well, and also holds its own as a fantastic song.

Track 2 - Don't Wish 9/10
This is another brilliant song! I personally don't like it as much as some of the others (hence the 9) but it is brilliant. It is one of those songs that I could listen to forever, and it is really brilliant. So catchy and fun to sing along to as well!

Track 3 - Lonely Girl 8/10
Classic Tonight Alive song, and was actually the first one of theirs that I heard! It is a good song, not as good as the others but still catchy and like-able.

Track 4 - Hell And Back 9/10
This one tones it down a bit and slows the album down, which is good as the previous songs were quite fast and fierce. Catchy, great lyrics, and a really beautiful song that I love to sing along to. Also, it fits in really well when you play the album as a whole.

Track 5 - The Other Side 10/10
Love this song so much! The lyrics are so emotive and have such a strong meaning, and the flow of the song is great. The first time I heard it, it really amazed me by its power and left me lost for words. The chorus is brilliant, shame I can't reach the notes. One of my favourite songs by them.

Track 6 - The Fire 8/10
Another powerful song, really well put together and sung. I feel like the verses are better than the chorus, but that is just a personal opinion and the song does work quite well as it is. Love the ferociousness of this song and the strong beat behind it.

Track 7 - Complexes 9/10
Great song. The chorus is just amazing, it really makes me feel uplifted, positive and a stronger person. It was incredible yelling the lyrics really loudly when I saw them live - a memory I will never forget!

Track 8 - Come Home 9/10
A great track. Melodious and calm as well as powerful and rocky. Love it! I can't find anything to say against it, but I'm not sure it is worth a 10/10.

Track 9 - Bathwater 7/10
I get that this is meant to be one of the slow and meaningful ones, but it doesn't work for me. The chorus is quite good, but the verses let it down a bit. It isn't a bad song, but does not meet the same standard as the rest of the album.

Track 10 - No Different 10/10
This is my favourite song by them! Love it so much, it has such power and motivation and is an incredible song. Love the lyrics, melodies, bass, drums - everything! Nothing that I could fault with this one.

Track 9 - Say Please 7/10
This is another one that I think is not as good as the rest of the album. It is a classic 'end of the record' track - not good enough to put nearer the start, but they wanted to add it in there. The lyrics are great, but the musical side lets it down a bit.

Track 10 - You Don't Owe Me Anything 6/10
Really dislike this song. Not sure why to be honest, but I just don't like it very much! Bit of an average end to a fantastic album.

Whole album:
I love this album, it has a great vibe and works really well when played in order. I love the majority of the songs, and listen to it on a regular basis.

Bands That I Have Seen Live So Far

In approximate order of when I saw them:

1. Jools Holland. Alone. With a piano.
This was a while ago now, but I still remember how dull it was. Okay, I get that hes a 'musical genius' or whatever - but it was a bit boring for me as an 8-11 year old.

2. Status Quo
Yeah, this wasn't really my thing in my younger years. As I am in no way a die hard fan, I wasn't really that into it.

3. Keane
This was really good actually. As a family we always played their albums, so to finally see them live was fantastic. We went to stay at our friend's house afterwards, which was a short walk away, so it was very convenient and there were no travelling issues. Great music and a generally great night.

4. The Wanted
Cringe, right? They were quite good, but due to the size of the venue it was tricky to see a lot. But still good for that sort of show.

5. Lawson
This was the first time that I saw them, and they weren't very famous at all at this point. Therefore it was a really cute and intimate venue, which in my opinion are always the best, and a really fun night. We also met the support act, and even though no-one would have heard of them at all it was still special.

6. Muse
This was one of those awesome moments that only appears in films - my sister and I got home one day to an answer phone message from a friend of ours, saying that they had some spare tickets for Muse that evening as their friends couldn't make it. Of course we leaped at the chance, and it was amazing! Great light show as well as the music, and as I mention in my review of Black Holes & Revelations, I got a bit emotional when they played Starlight. Loved it!

7. The Script
They were good, and the musical side was fantastic, but I was still a bit disappointed to be honest. The view was good but we were a way away from the stage, so it had that feel of watching a band on TV instead of seeing them live. However, they played all my favourite songs by them and it was nice to see what they are like live.

8. Lawson (again)
This was the second time I saw Lawson, and they were great. As they were more well known, it was not as intimate, but we managed to catch one of their plectrums at the end, which made the evening even more incredible.

9. All Time Low
ATL were amazing! It was an interesting evening though, because I was about 3 rows from the front and had to be hauled out by one of those muscly security guys because I am quite short and I overheated! It was good though - I ended up walking to the back and watching from there (which ironically had a better view). Loved the whole set - really good night!

10. The 1975
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw The 1975. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I don't know any of the songs, but it was fantastic! Had a good atmosphere and was a generally good evening.

11. Tonight Alive
This is the most recent band that I have seen live, and I have to be honest, it is the best gig that I have ever been to. Good, intimate venue, brilliant music from Tonight Alive, and a really great night. Knew most of the songs, and didn't have to be hauled from the crowd, so a bonus all round!
